Ice rod questions and answers

Short answers about the angled handle, choosing a rod, and how the lifetime guarantee works.

The angled handle

It lets your wrist stay straight while the rod stays level. That means less wrist and forearm fatigue, more power on the hookset, and better control on the retrieve.

Yes. The handle is protected by U.S. Patent D782,608 S.

Yes. Buy the rod only and mount the reel you already use.

Choosing a rod

Medium. It has the backbone for bigger fish. For perch and crappie choose Light, and for bluegill and other panfish choose Ultralight.

Shorter rods are easier to handle in a shack or shelter. Longer rods give you more reach and line control on open ice. If you fish both ways, a mid-length rod is a good place to start.

If you already have a small spinning reel you like, buy the rod only. If you want to fish the day it arrives, pick a combo.

The JP200 is our standard reel with 3 ball bearings. The JP500 has 5+1 ball bearings for a smoother retrieve.

It will land them, but if perch and crappie are your main target, a Light action gives you more backbone.
